Frequently asked questions

What we are asked most often

Regulation, QR codes, nutritional values, pricing: answers to the questions winemakers and laboratories ask.

What is wine transparency?

It means telling consumers what is in the bottle: ingredients, allergens, additives, energy value, and where the grapes come from. Wine escaped food labelling rules for a long time. It no longer does.

How does a QR code work on a wine bottle?

Consumers scan the code with their phone and land on a web page. There they find the energy value, the ingredient list and the allergens. The winemaker can also add where the grapes come from, how the wine was made and a presentation of the estate, in a space kept separate from the mandatory information.

What is the European regulation on wine labelling?

Since 8 December 2024, Regulation (EU) 2021/2117 requires producers to display the energy value and the ingredient list of every wine. This information may appear on the label or be made accessible electronically, usually by QR code. The page it leads to must carry no marketing and no trackers.

Why choose GrapeTrack for wine transparency?

Because we start from your laboratory's report, not from a form to fill in. Values are read automatically, energy value is calculated, the page and the QR code are created. You review instead of retyping. That works for an independent winemaker, a cooperative cellar or a merchant.

What are the benefits of QR codes for winemakers?

It moves the mandatory statements off an already crowded back label, which frees the layout. It shows in the visitor's language, with no need to print several versions. And its content can be corrected after printing: an error or a vintage change does not send the labels back to the printer.

How do consumers benefit from wine transparency?

They see straight away what the bottle contains, how many calories are in a glass, and whether there are sulphites. Anyone following a particular diet can choose accordingly. And if they want to go further, they discover the estate and its terroir.

What does a wine traceability solution cost?

€20 for unlimited QR codes. No hidden fees, no volume limit: the price is the same whether you produce a thousand or a hundred thousand bottles a year.

What is GrapeTrack's "Learn more" feature?

The regulatory page shows the mandatory information first, with nothing mixed in. At the bottom of that page, a discreet button leads to a second space, your estate's: photos, videos, history, terroir, how you make your wine. You decide whether to switch it on. Consumers came for the ingredients; nothing stops you telling them the rest.

How does GrapeTrack help oenology laboratories?

Your reports arrive at an address reserved for your laboratory and become your client's regulatory page, without anyone retyping the values. No more copy-paste and Excel files. You have no software to change, no report format to alter and nothing to develop — and you offer your winemaking clients a service few laboratories provide.
